At Caplash Dental Clinic, we prioritize restoring both the functionality and aesthetics of your smile. Dental crowns and tooth bridges are two key restorative treatments we offer to help you achieve this goal.
Dental crowns, often referred to as caps, are custom-made restorations that cover a damaged or weakened tooth entirely. They are commonly used when a tooth is too compromised for a simple filling or after root canal therapy. Crowns restore the tooth’s shape, size, strength, and appearance, protecting it from further damage while allowing the tooth to function like a natural one.
We offer crowns made from various materials, including porcelain, ceramic, metal alloys, and porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM). Porcelain and ceramic crowns are especially popular for their ability to match the color and translucency of natural teeth, making them ideal for visible front teeth. Metal crowns, known for their durability, are often used for molars, where chewing forces are greatest. PFM crowns combine the strength of metal with the aesthetic appeal of porcelain.
Tooth bridges are designed to replace one or more missing teeth, effectively “bridging” the gap in your smile. A bridge typically consists of one or more artificial teeth (pontics) that are held in place by crowns attached to the adjacent natural teeth or dental implants. Bridges help restore the alignment, function, and appearance of your smile, while also preventing remaining teeth from shifting out of place.
Bridges are an excellent option for those who seek a fixed solution for tooth loss but may not be candidates for dental implants. They maintain facial structure, improve speech and chewing abilities, and blend seamlessly with your natural teeth.
The Process at Caplash Dental Clinic
The process of getting crowns and bridges usually requires two visits.
First Visit: We prepare the affected teeth by reshaping them and take impressions to create your custom crown or bridge. A temporary restoration is placed to protect your teeth until the final restoration is ready.
Second Visit: The temporary restoration is removed, and the custom-made crown or bridge is carefully fitted and bonded in place. We ensure that your restoration is comfortable and matches your natural teeth.
Crowns and bridges restore oral function, improve aesthetics, and can last many years with proper care. Regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups are essential to maintaining your restorations.
